When a patio gets to the point where moss and weeds are pushing up through every joint, a quick rinse with a garden hose isn't going to cut it. That's where a full restoration comes in - and that's exactly what we tackled here.

Here's what we were working with: joints packed with old, degraded sand, moss and weeds taking hold across the surface, and pavers that had lost most of their color and definition. The kind of patio that gets ignored for a season or two until it becomes a real problem. We've seen it a hundred times.

The process starts with a deep surface clean to pull all of that grime, moss, and biological buildup off the pavers themselves. Then we get into the joints - removing the old sand that's broken down and no longer holding anything together. Before we re-sand, we treat the joints to knock out weed growth at the source so it doesn't just come right back after we're done. Once that's set, fresh joint sand goes in to lock everything tight again.

What you end up with is a patio that's structurally sound, clean down to the surface, and ready to hold up the way it was originally built to. The color comes back, the joints are clean and tight, and the weeds don't have anywhere to take root. It's one of those jobs where the difference is hard to miss.

Paver restoration is one of those things people put off because it seems like a big lift - but getting ahead of it saves a lot of headache down the road. Loose pavers, failed joints, and unchecked weed growth only get worse over time. A proper cleaning and re-sanding is almost always the better option over replacement.
